End of Summer
Progress Update

End of Summer
Well, summer draws to a close and life is starting to settle back into a more regular routine. I’m a little behind “schedule”, but I’m making good progress and excited for fall where I typically have more time to concentrate on writing. Since most of my writing time comes on Mondays and Fridays, I “lose” a bit of it during the summer to adventure, family, and circumstance.
In the last two and a half months, I’ve made it halfway through edits on the first part of the book. Most of the content in part one is older, so some of some of these sections required some substantive work to catch them up to some later developments. My last couple of sessions, I’ve been struggling with an especially problematic scene… the problem is I hate it and I don’t think it does what it’s supposed to do. I’ve taken two sessions “fixing” it, but I know in my heart it needs a completely new direction. This has been one of the more bigger challenges for me, learning to abandon old work that doesn’t work.
You might have also noticed that there hasn’t been much activity here. I’ll be honest, it’s a bit weird to put something out there just to let people know that you haven’t given up and don’t intend to, but I am grateful for the interest and the confidence and I’m getting really excited at the idea that my project will end up in print.
Every day the storyline continues to mature. I am already working on outlines for several extended projects, probably more than enough to keep me busy for the number of years I have left.
Thanks for checking in. Better get back to it.
